It's Saturday & Sunny in Chicago

Afternoon,

The sunbeam says,"What cold?"
The Markets & Banks say," Who needs reform?"
The Coffee Cup says, "Refill!"
"Another Bucket of Mud with 2 Shots of Tar Please..."

The President explains that while he continues to focus on jobs, it is also profoundly important to address the problems that created this economic mess in the first place. He commends the House of Representatives for passing reforms to our financial system, including a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency, and blasts Republican Leaders and financial industry lobbyists for their joint "pep rally" to defeat it.

CHICAGO - Doctors heading to Washington to urge single-payer health care reform are staging a stopover rally in Chicago.

The group called "Mad as Hell Doctors" is traveling across the country to promote their cause. The
Chicago rally is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the University of Illinois at Chicago's pharmacy school. Transit: UIC-Halsted (0.4 mi) Blue Line

Dr. Quentin Young, a leading vocal advocate of single-payer health care, says the doctors are evidence of growing support for that concept. The retired Chicago-based doctor is national coordinator for the group Physicians for National Health Program. The traveling doctors are members of that group.

Their road trip began in
Oregon and ends September 30th in Washington. They want Congress to put a single-payer plan on the table.

very little thing you do makes a difference. Each action, each word you speak, each thought you think will in some way change things for you and your world.

Enjoy,

Peter

P.S.
How I see you and how you see me is where our confusion begins.
When I listen to you and when you listen to me is where our understanding begins.
How far we go depends on both of us.

Weekly Address: Myths and Morality in Health Insurance Reform

Posted by Jesse Lee
President Obama debunks the myths around health insurance reform, and discusses the public option proposal in which many of them are rooted -- but he focuses his address on the stark moral and historical turning point at which we find ourselves: "This is our chance to march forward. I cannot promise you that the reforms we seek will be perfect or make a difference overnight. But I can promise you this: if we pass health insurance reform, we will look back many years from now and say, this was the moment we summoned what’s best in each of us to make life better for all of us. This was the moment we built a health care system worthy of the nation and the people we love. This was the moment we earned our place alongside the greatest generations. And that is what our generation of Americans is called to do right now."

President Obama's Saturday Address

From www.Truthout.org

Barack Obama delivered his first weekly address to the American people Saturday: "We begin this year and this Administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action. Just this week, we saw more people file for unemployment than at any time in the last twenty-six years, and experts agree that if nothing is done, the unemployment rate could reach double digits. Our economy could fall $1 trillion short of its full capacity, which translates into more than $12,000 in lost income for a family of four. And we could lose a generation of potential, as more young Americans are forced to forgo college dreams or the chance to train for the jobs of the future. In short, if we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse."
