Healthcare Reformers have the GOP right where they want us

Insurance Healthcare Reform pardon?

On January 26, 2009, Representative Conyers brought forth HR 676, A Great Idea!!!, Then Pundit Bill Kristol says Kill it, Senator Baucus Backs him up.  Now I see Republicans Complaining, (thoroughly confusing), an Insurance Reform Act Written by Insurance Companies for Insurance Companies, prolonging the pain of the uninsured, Right Back to where we began 100 years ago & more.

Despite being a Republic, Our Democracy is Faux for all, benefiting the direction  of a  few.

Very Reminiscent of the Colonies, and Early Chicago.  In many ways it is the wheel repeating.

Flashbacks that don't need pharmaceuticals, they just require literacy & memory.

Enjoy,

Peter

To all,

First of all, thank you for all you have already done for Health Care in this country and I do wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!

Remember dear friends, Martin Luther King told us, "the Arch of the Universe is long but it bends towards Justice" Throughout history the citizens have risen up time and time again to regain their power and I hope this is one of those times. Citizens Unite, please say No to this massive corporate giveaway to the Health Insurance companies and Big Pharma! Don't worry, we will continue to have the momentum to reform this Health Care system, at least on the state, city and county levels for sure and even on the National level too. We, Americans, are not getting what we were promised or what we voted for!

So enough is enough! Why should the House cave in to the Senate, why should the tyranny of the few win? Please pick up the phone and call all the Progressives in the House and demand that they either get rid of the Individual Mandates or put back in the Public Option! Frankly if I was a Progressive Dem in the House I would take out the Individual Mandates and also any Anti-abortion language and send it back to the Senate, if the Senators Kill This Bill then so be it! 1-800-828-0498 to Congress, the list of House Progressives is at the bottom of this email!

I agree 100% with Jane Hamsher of Fire Dog Lake and Howard Dean, who said this bill is an outrage! (see below and listen to Democracy Now today) Sure this bill covers more Americans, the Medicaid expansion is fantastic but at what cost, the rest of us Americans will pay through the nose to the Insurance companies FOREVER! There is NO competition in this bill! There is No re-importation of drugs, there is no rate control, there is no anti-trust exemption relief, there is no states rights to a Single Payer system!

Do you know how much the Insurance companies spent on lobbying this year, $635 Million of our premium dollars was spent by these companies to get a much bigger piece of the taxpayer pie! Proof? The stock of every single one of the Health Insurance companies has risen greatly in the last couple of weeks!

We Deserve Much Better! We Deserve Our Gov. Spending Our Money On Us!
It is that simple, we deserve Single Payer Health Care, Medicare For All. I was willing to compromise on; the Public Option, more Medicaid and more money for Community Health Centers but now we do not have a Public Option and we have Mandated Purchase by Every American of Faulty Insurance Products Forever, all of which we, the taxpayers, will pay for again and again! There is no way to control premiums in this bill! And we are in for decades of trying to make our Government enforce regulations that are not even enforced right now in States that have these regulations, like California, (right now they have a no recission law in CA and they are trying to prosecute 1700 cases of recission, so the Insurance companies have no intention of following the rules!)

Dear friend, you can tell that Obama, Reid, Pelosi and all the others simply lied to us about the Public Option, right? They had no intention of passing a Public Option, this was all a show! Reid could have passed a Public Option by simply starting the process in Reconciliation (like Bush did over and over and over again for 8 years!), then he would have only needed 51 votes! They don't care about Bipartisanship, they just Lied! If you don't believe me listen to Feingold and Greenwald on www.democracynow.orgtoday. We all got sold down the river by Obama and the Congressional leadership!

Pease take off the gloves we have to stop hoping and vamp up our protesting! Friends, we do not have a choice, the corporations are destroying our health care, our economy, they are destroying Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and now Yemen, they are destroying our environment, our lifestyles, our middle class, our Constitution, our democracy, our everything! So Please Stand Up For Yourself, Your Family and Your Neighbors and say NO! Say no to this corporate Health Care giveaway! Then to the Wars! Then to the Bankers! We must make a stand against the Corporations or our lives will become a living hell in this country!

And remember that most of the provisions in this bill do not even go into effect until 2013-2014! This is a classic case of HURRY UP AND THEN WAIT 3-4 YEARS! We have plenty of time to keep this issue alive and keep addressing it in Congress! I don't care a fig about Obama's future when he does not care a fig about keeping his promises to us! Obama can be a 1 termer for all I care! And I don't worry about the Republicans either, only 20% of Americans even call themselves Republicans! We can elect more Sanders, more Kucinichs and more Feingolds, (who actually voted against the recent $636 Billion Military Spending bill! Go Russ!)

Also please keep the faith, the walls of secrecy are falling fast all over the World, the  secrets about corporate corruption of our entire Health Care System will not be kept quiet  forever, please read...

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT TO INVESTIGATE THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION IN JANUARY 2010

So I will keep everyone informed about the next steps but for now let's Call the House Progressives. Sincerely in appreciation of your dedication to Americans, Dr. Lora

The Senate health care bill must be killed. We must do better for health care than this.

Hi Lora -
The Senate's health care bill must be killed.
It is an ungodly mess of errors, loopholes, and massive giveaways. When the American people find out what's actually in this bill, they will revolt. Congress and President Obama have no choice but to do better for health care than this bill.
How bad is the bill?
  1. Forces you to pay up to 8% of your income to private insurance corporations -- whether you want to or not
  2. If you refuse to buy the insurance,  you'll have to pay penalties of up to 2% of your annual income to the IRS
  3. After being forced to pay thousands in premiums for junk insurance, you can still be on the hook for up to $11,900 a year in out-of-pocket medical expenses.
  4. Massive restriction on a woman's right to choose, designed to trigger a challenge to Roe v.. Wade in the Supreme Court
  5. Paid for by taxes on the middle class insurance plan you have right now through your employer, causing them to cut back benefits and increase co-ays
  6. Many of the taxes to pay for the bill start now, but most Americans won't see any benefits -- like an end to discrimination against those with preexisting conditions -- until 2014 when the program begins.
  7. Allows insurance companies to charge people who are older 300% more than others
  8. Grants monopolies to to drug companies that will keep generic versions of expensive biotech drugs from ever coming to market.
  9. No reimportation of prescription drugs, which would save consumers $100 billion over 10 years
  10. The cost of medical care will continue to rise, and insurance premiums for a family of 4 will rise an average of $1000 a year -- meaning in 10 years, you family's insurance premium will be $10,000 more annually than it is right now.

I could go on, but it should be clear: this is not reform.  This is a con job.

Sign our petition: kill the Senate bill.

Make no mistake, we need health care reform.  But the Senate's idea of reform is a disaster, and will make things far worse than they are today.

We will continue to fight for real health care reform.  Now, we must kill this fake reform.

Thanks for all you do..

Jane Hamsher

Firedoglake

P.S. Please, after you've signed, forward this email to your friends, family, coworkers - anyone you know.  It's critical we act fast to kill the Senate bill, and we need everyone we can on board.

From President Obama "Where We Stand"

Peter --

Early this morning, the Senate made history and health reform cleared its most important hurdle yet -- garnering the 60 votes needed to move toward a final vote in that chamber later this week.

This marks the first time in our nation's history that comprehensive health reform has come to this point. And it appears that the American people will soon realize the genuine reform that offers security to those who have health insurance and affordable options to those who do not.

I'm grateful to Senator Harry Reid and every senator who's been working around the clock to make this happen. And I'm grateful to you, and every member of the Organizing for America community, for all the work you have done to make this progress possible.

After a nearly century-long struggle, we are now on the cusp of making health insurance reform a reality in the United States of America.

As with any legislation, compromise is part of the process. But I'm pleased that recently added provisions have made this landmark bill even stronger. Between the time when the bill passes and the time when the insurance exchanges get up and running, insurance companies that try to jack up their rates do so at their own peril. Those who hike their prices may be barred from selling plans on the exchanges.

And while insurance companies will be prevented from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing conditions once the exchanges are open, in the meantime there will be a high-risk pool where people with pre-existing conditions can purchase affordable coverage.

A recent amendment has made these protections even stronger. Insurance companies will now be prohibited from denying coverage to children immediately after this bill passes. There's also explicit language in this bill that will protect a patient's choice of doctor. And small businesses will get additional assistance as well.

These protections are in addition to the ones we've been talking about for some time. No longer will insurance companies be able to drop your coverage if you become sick and no longer will you have to pay unlimited amounts out of your own pocket for treatments that you need.

Under this bill families will save on their premiums; businesses that would see their costs rise if we don't act will save money now and in the future. This bill will strengthen Medicare and extend the life of the program. Because it's paid for and gets rid of waste and inefficiency in our health care system, this will be the largest deficit reduction plan in over a decade.

Finally, this reform will extend coverage to more than 30 million Americans who don't have it.

These are not small changes. These are big changes. They're fundamental reforms. They will save money. They will save lives.

And your passion, your work, your organizing helped make all of this possible. Now it's time to finish the job.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Evenin',

Yesterday, an HTML ooops darn-it, plagued my layout, today a cut and paste, seems to have made the correction, necessary to keep moving forward. Plus WiFi connections have been simple until this evening when glitches appeared and served the learning curve of patience with calm-m-m-m.

I will repeat my entry attempt one at a time, from yesterday now suffixed with again.

We are all born brilliant and Good, each of us was Gods'  gift of hope, until an adult with a personal agenda changed our growth with injury, creating problems for the future of others.  It is an ancient habit that has wrought only war, ignorance, misery, for others to endure.

Psychologist Carol Gilligan can explain these  thoughts better, while dancing around with the word Patriarch

Shovel Index

Evenin',

So the group committed to killing healthcare are also the same folks committed to Oil exploration, suppressing Green Technology, Pushing Defense Budgets higher through the fear of insecurity.

All I  know is that over 20 years ago, my neighbors were on their front lawn playing football in shorts and t-shirts. It was January 1st, Yep it was Strange.

Since then I've formulated the Shovel Index indicating the amount of snow I shovel between Halloween & Easter.

news.yahoo.com
"An island-sized iceberg is breaking up as it drifts closer to Australia, producing hundreds of smaller slabs spread over a massive area of ocean, experts said Monday."

Now we have an Ozone layer problem, plus other items to shovel.  My index has multiple applications.

Enjoy,

It's Saturday & Sunny in Chicago

Afternoon,

The sunbeam says,"What cold?"
The Markets & Banks say," Who needs reform?"
The Coffee Cup says, "Refill!"
"Another Bucket of Mud with 2 Shots of Tar Please..."

The President explains that while he continues to focus on jobs, it is also profoundly important to address the problems that created this economic mess in the first place. He commends the House of Representatives for passing reforms to our financial system, including a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency, and blasts Republican Leaders and financial industry lobbyists for their joint "pep rally" to defeat it.

Time for new shoes

The uninvited visitor in my brain
develops tendrils to feed without permission.

25 mile an hour 28 degree wind pushes fresh crystals in the crisp solitude
It sure would be nice to afford new  walkin' shoes

these 2 1/2 year old soles are worn into thin sponges
the slush tells me slowly "warm dry socks are at home"

yeesh

Evenin',

Sooo, Heathcare Reform is Wealthcare Reborn, yeesh.

The behavior of Elected Officials are representative of interests, that from a human historical perspective, are predictably beneficial to a few against the betterment of many.

Am in Bethesda, with a rebuilt laptop, linked to a WiFi, dustin' off Rusty Nodes, getting ready for my Avastin drip, starting with an Enzastaurin  appetizer.  So far so good.

Still have my private moments of my Love for Life that will never be understood in film or on T.V.

Will have to do it in song or on my bike.
