Moral Sense

CPAC  began rebooting in Washington D.C., this morning.  Mitt Romney spoke  LIVE on CNN this afternoon.  My impression was that the Best of Obama  had been gleaned, repackaged and  rebranded  Republican Original.  Stealing and staking claim to someone elses' ideas is not new. Mix it with ample quantities of lying and what has been created?  RNC Campaign 2012 with Zofran.

Am I the only one who saw this?

Fortunately I found comfort in this Bill  Moyers Interview of  Historian Barbara Wertheim Tuchman on September 30, 1988.  These were her observations of what was occurring then.

 "Weakening of Conscience,Moral Sense"
"Our Public Men are Artificial"
"We are a Public brought up in Deception"
"We are accustomed to being deceived"

The President at that time was Ronald Reagan; 'nuff said.

What have the fruits of deception produced since 1988?
Lots of affluent effluent, which we must build a better world with.

Land fills are Gold mines.

The Secret to Why

From in utero we learn about the world we will eventually enter.

Beginning at birth behavior gets shaped in response to new sensations of observations and interactions.

When observing an adult one can see what they saw and heard as a child.

Scary thing "Tradition" or "History Says"

This Video Clip is from Charity Focus

"A short and powerful commercial about children mimicking the actions of their parents."

The question is no longer why, because it is easy to see, everywhere, everyday.

The question is what to do? Be part of the problem? or Part of the solution?

Both directions effect future children's children...

Brain Trauma Recovery

Rediscovery of Self

Peter Lott Heppner

Non-Chronological Recap Status

"Sign here."
"What's it say?"
"It says if you die, you won't sue me."
"Ok, no problem, wake me up when they're done"
"Ok, no problem, sweet dreams."

That was July 22nd, 2008 just before my Craniotomy to resect a 2.9cm WHO Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma in my right Premotor cortex. The other two tumors in my right hemisphere were surgically inaccesible. (Since then all three have been concomitantly treated with Radiotherapy and Temodar. So far so good, there has been a reduction in mass of all three. Hoowah!!)

"Mornin' Peter how are you?"
" I feel like crap."
"That's to be expected, you've just had major surgery but you're talking, which is very good."
"(burble)"

Then we go through a series of physical exams where we learn that the left side of my body doesn't move. I can feel touch. I just can't wiggle my fingers, shift my leg, turn my arm, nothin', it's paralysis in the ICU, so what else is new?

"Your brain is swollen from the surgery, which went well, we're very happy. You are going to be transfered from ICU, back to your room."

Steroid and morphine drip aaah feels good, my right thumb works the button fine but only once every 10 minutes maximum allowed; too much could kill me. Somewhere a microprocessor is counting. Thank God for computer assisted medicine.

July 23rd, the left side of my body didn't move, my thoughts were there but my muscles wouldn't listen, because they couldn't hear, communication had been cut-off, the power lines were down. It would require Facilitative Therapy, my right arm would have to teach my left arm how to be an arm again, my hand being a hand, the same applied to my leg which would have to regain the strength necessary to keep from tipping over.

3 days later, assisted by the Physical Therapist I was able to walk a few steps down the hall, turn around and move forward slowly. A great deal of thinking goes into walking.

August 1st 2008 got past bunny ears to tie my shoe laces like I used to. It would take two more weeks to get the left coordinated with right repetitively. Typing until now, in this piece, today 2-23-2009 is still a solo right hand, dexterity is the next phase through facilitation. My left forefinger gets Shift Key duty. Typing with both hands is slow, clumsy but attempted as thought flow allows and fingers cooperate. Thank God for the backspace delete function. Keypunch didn't have that capability, nor did type writers.

Frustration levels have been significantly lowered due to technological improvements available to me now for my recovery. This applies abley to pen and paper. My journal has been replaced by blogging as my right hand can type better than perform cursive. It is illuminating that while the right side of my brain learns how to talk to left side of my body, the right side of my body is also learning how to connect synchrony. It has it's own impairments due to the drain by the disabilities of the left side.

Fascinating is how I feel about that which I learned in Biology about cells, in Psychology about nerves, I get to experience from within and hopefully will be able describe suitably for someone else to comprehend my stages of healing. This is going to take a few entries, which are therapeutic in themselves neurologically as well.

Okay, set the cane in the corner two months ago, left ankle, knee and hip function but lack strength, stamina, flexibility, motility. Must consciously remind myself that there is an environment over my left shoulder. Reflexes are slow, no snap on the left side, right side, marginal as if dulled. Short term memory for surroundings quickly fleets, re-look a few times to make sure and measure timing, as in crossing a street watching traffic or walking down a sidewalk with others behind me who can walk faster. There is an ungainliness to my gait, a sense of tipping, with a slight need to sleep when I blink my eyes.

The full tear in the left rotator cuff and the 40 degree reset of left distal radius fracture from the ladder accident of January 8th, 2008 are complications that require cancer mitigation first before reconnection and reconstruction can occur.

Radiotherapy caused brain swelling which adds to my Anaplastic Astrocytomas Adventure. Temodar affects the muscles, take a walk then take a nap. My physical capabilities are antithetical to what I could do one year ago. The last time I road my bike was July 16th, 2008. It's strange to look at my friend for thirty years hanging from the ceiling getting dusty.

November 3rd 2008 Concomitant Radio/Chemo Therapy phase ended. February 14th, 2009 completed third of six cycles of increased dosage of Temodar.

I Love Life, am glad to be here, it's a sunny 22 degrees Farenheit in Chicago.

To you and yours wherever you are have a great day,

Chit with ya',

Honesty It Ain't Somebody Else

From
Daily Good e-mail this morning.

"As Ray Anderson was preparing to give a speech at Interface, the billion dollar carpet company he founded, he had a stark realization."I was running a company that was plundering the earth," he recalls. While Interface fully complied with the law, Ray knew that wasn't enough. So he challenged his employees to find ways to turn it all around, and forestalled objections from his own stockholders. "He bet his entire company," remembers one colleague. And the bet paid off. Today, Interface has cut fossil fuels by 45%, reduced water usage by 49% and slowed its landfill contribution by 80%. Plans are underway for it to be a fully "restorative enterprise" by 2020. Oh, and along the way? Interface has saved over $336 million."

Someone in my Roots

33 years ago my scholarship for college, was terminated because I did not achieve an achievable grade point average. My childhood dream of being a veterinarian was over. After working a couple of years in an Animal Hospital, as a precursor to my future, it became apparent that being allergic to one's patients would be an unhealthy way to make a living. Hindsight is full of shoulda's, coulda's but didja's? The plain fact was that I was 18 and free to do whatever I wanted, if I could pay for it, like school for example. But What? I had no money, Zip Zero Nada. Natural Solution, Get a Job! Figure it out as I go.

"The List" grows long over time with things that are easier said than done. Finding a successful means to provide for oneself and hopefully/ possibly others is (next to staying alive), high on "The List."

These past 33 years of my life have proven that to me.

Anyhow, at that time, I went applying. A Factory Owner politely wished me good luck, A Restaurant Owner paid me $7 to wash dishes for the day then politely wished me good luck. There were many who politely wished me good luck. Then into an office building holding a newspaper with an ad circled that offered Travel, Education, Opportunity, I found Good Luck.

For the next 2 years Macmillan Publishing paid me, per confirmed sale, to promote The Collier Home Learning Center in a 400 mile radius territory of Chicago. It was great selling Encyclopedias Door to Door, but mostly it was getting reactions to an Educational Program, like "Not Interested", "Can't afford it" or "We need to think it over".

A Job that had Fresh air, Exercise, Meals with Strangers, an occasional arrest for soliciting without a permit in the Municipality, which was also seen by the Judiciary as Restriction of Interstate Commerce and Free Enterprise. Stu my Crew Manager would pay the $50-$100 bail, get reimbursed later and we would not go back to that town again, someone else would.

It was a formative time, where Positive Mental Attitude existed on the walls, the coffee tables, in the Regional Manager Bob's daily pep talk,"Enthusiasm Sells" "To be Enthusiastic, Act Enthusiastic" "Persist and You Will Succeed" These ideas do work when you do.

Then there are the names forever fondly etched in my psyche, W.Clement Stone, Napoleon Hill, Zig Ziglar, Og Mandino, and Dale Carnegie who turned up this morning on You Tube, A Friendly Reminder from Someone in my Roots.

As Usual,

Enjoy,

Then Pass It Along,

Make progress

Today is your opportunity to make progress. Right now is the moment to begin.

If you're not quite sure how you'll proceed, go ahead and get started anyway. The way to work out the details is to jump into the work.

Each moment that flows quickly into your life will flow out again just as quickly. While you have it, you can transform that moment into a lasting accomplishment.

Make a little bit of progress, again and again. Soon, you will have created great value.

You can do it, because you are alive and aware and willing to get where you wish to go. Whatever your situation, whatever your circumstance, you can make something positive and valuable out of it.

Choose now to make progress, and allow a positive momentum to take hold. Feel the joy of being the immensely creative person you can surely be.

-- Ralph Marston

Healing Sphere Volume

For the fun of it, I did a little Thinking
Sphere Volume = 4/3 •π • r³ = ( π •d³)/6
2.9cm tumor diameter
1.45cm tumor radius
nerve/brain tissue heals at a rate of 3 mm per month
therefore
4/3 x π x 1.45 cubed=12.77005054 cm tumor volume
convert to mm = 127.7005054
divided by 3 =42.56683513 months
divided by 12=3.547236261 years
for my pre-motor cortex to fill-back in
getting it to work properly
maybe take a little while longer,
I think,
don't know
Find Out
When I get there

My Brain on Disbelief

One heck of a week here.

Common Sense was being challenged by chicanery in the Illinois Senate. Who was telling the Truth? Something serious was missing for sometime.

A few weeks ago our Democratic Governor got hauled away by the FBI from his home before his kids got up for school.

He was charged with Abuse of Power?!

He was told to resign or risk impeachment.

All this activity occurred uncannily around the Change of Administrations in Washington.

Were there duplicitous standards at the Justice Department? Then thanx to the Illinois General Assembly, Transcripts with Audio Evidence were made available to the Public.

After reading then listening in order to compare the FBI wiretapped Governor Blagojevich nuances of 6 weeks to the New World Order Directives of the Rove, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld & Rice Administration of the past 8 years, circumstances continued to challenge common sense. Questions like Who? What? Where? When? Why? while simple enough to ask, answers were a plethora of obfuscatory choices.

So began an attempt to clear up confusion with a July 8, 2008 On-Line Time Magazine article. GOP Targets DEM "Scandal Babies" by Will Schultz/Washington. "History suggests that scandal babies do not fare well when they face an opponent free of ethical baggage. Michael Patrick Flanagan, for example, won an improbable victory in the Republican tsunami of 1994 over scandal-scarred Democratic veteran Dan Rostenkowski, but he was crushed two years later by an energetic young Democrat named Rod Blagojevich (who went on to be elected governor of Illinois — and is now suffering through his own ethical travails). A scandal, it seems, is a onetime thing: it's helpful for getting elected but is of little use when re-election rolls around."

(Who?) Republican Michael Patrick Flanagan & Democrat Rod Blagojevich (For What?) Illinois 5th Congressional District Seat (When?) 1994.

(Why?) Are the 5th District, Flanagan and Blagojevich connected by a Republican vendetta?

Don't know, but in 2002 former President Clinton aide Rahm Emmanuel campaigned for and was elected to Represent the Illinois Congressional 5th District, my neighborhood, home to Wrigley Field. Representative Emmanuel recently resigned to return to the White House therefore this place is in play again, and we are having a Special Election.

Stumbling and mumbling through Public Records to connect history finds former Illinois 14th District Congressman Dennis Hastert with his own Keep Our Mission PAC which receives support from Republican former Illinois 5th District Congressman Michael P. Flanagan now a consultant in Washington D.C.

But then on Thursday afternoon Governor Blagojevich was removed from office after a 59-0 non-partisan vote. The designated Prosecutor Ellis didn't move me but the reviews of evidence voiced by 33 of the 59 Senators compelled me to say "'Nuff said spread the word it's Governor Quinn now."

Taking a break from netting, We, will move forward to the March 3rd Primary Election.

Meanwhile 84 days ago, 30 sailors in 30 sixty foot boats headed into the Tradewinds for a 28,000 mile race around the Circumference of Earth. 1 of the 12 remaining in the flotilla finished , while I tried to finish this entry.

Facts help My Brain deal with disbelief.
